What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We do not collect any interaction related data in our databases unless they are collected in the form of cookies in which case they are collected to serve you better.

Since no person is able to register themselves in the website, we collect no private information, unless you provide them to us through our contact or application form.

 

Comments

We do not encourage leaving comments in our website as they do not fit the purpose of our site, however, if you choose to overcome our safety measures and post comments on the site, your IP address and browser agent string will be collected to help detect spam.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact forms

We collect data from contact forms in order to contact you and help you through your inquiries. All data you provide through the Contact forms will be collected by us in our email inbox where it will be forwarded to and it will retain in our email inbox indefinitely.

Cookies

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

If you submit your data through the contact forms available, we will not share you data with anyone else. We will use this data to contact you and help you with your inquiry.

If you submit your data through the Application form, we will use your data to fill out the relevant applications forms of the universities that you wish to apply to. Therefore, your application data will be shared with the universities through our trusted agents who follow a strict protocol to protect your data.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

As mentioned in above sections, we retain contact information and application information indefinitely to serve your inquiries better.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

If you have submitted a contact inquiry or a application form, you have the right to request us to remove your data stored in our inboxes and databases. However, we have no control over the data that the university or the agents would store about you.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

As mentioned earlier, application data would be sent to relevant universities through trusted agents and also to the relevant authorities for immigration procedures.
